The Final Presentation. No Really...

Hiya,

So here is the final presentation!

It's a mashup and commentary of what has happened over the past few weeks that I have been doing this!

ENJOY!

The Best of the Best

Book Trailers that are very successful.

Book trailers have been gaining popularity over the past few years and everyone is trying to create one, from big publishing companies to librarians and school kids.

As you've seen over the past few months I've added some really good ones, but I've also shown some pretty crap ones to be honest.

So here's some of my favourite.

Under the Never Sky

Room

The Karma Club

Divergent

This is only a few of the ones that I have loved and I wish that I could have had more up here!

The final presentation

Hiya,

So here's the presentation I'll be giving in class tonight as the second last aspect of this assignment.

I'll be showing my two trailers and a little intro presentation as well. All of them have been made individually using Movie Maker and then grouped together in another presentation using MM again.

I used Fur Elise for the music plus a door and a scream for the background music trailer and just my voice for the voice over trailer. (By the end of the night they'll be sick of my voice). But it only goes for a little over two minutes so it shouldn't be that annoying.

I can't seem to upload the video I'll be using as my internet is not playing nice, or maybe it doesn't let you upload files of a certain size, either way I'll try and get it up and running when I get to Uni!

Imagine both trailers and a little intro at the start and in the middle to introduce the next section.

How I... Voice over

The techy side of things.

What I used:
Microsoft Movie Maker
WavePad Audio
Images from friends
My Voice

How?

I created the video first, only having a rough idea of what I wanted to say in the trailer. I used my own images as well as that of my friends and family to create the visual. And the voice was just recorded using WavePad.

The step-by-step instructions are the same as those I used the first time round. So back in April. You can find them under the April heading!

The only thing that changed was using WavePad.

It took a while to figure out exactly what I was doing and to mentally swap my voice out for Morgan Freeman's (there are only so many times you can hear you voice before screaming).

My spruik on the WavePad software is under the May heading.

Give it a go!

How I... Background music

Hiya,

What I used:
Micosoft Movie Maker
WavePad Audio
Fur Elise
Slamming Door
Female Scream
My Voice

How?
Like the Voice over trailer the visual side was decided on first before I even thought of what the music would sound like. I originally was going to go with the idea of slow drums, but then I was told that it just left people confused so, yeah, that got changed.

Using Fur Elise is definitely a better idea, its eerie but calming (to me), so I hope that others think it works well!

I also downloaded two sound effects from WavePad's library (a whinning door and a female scream) both I think are awesome, but it all depends on really what happens with everyone at my presentation!

The visual aspects are similar to the voice over track but it has more detailed picture of all the stars of the novella. I still say that J did an epic job!

The Background Music Trailer

Hiya!

Here's the Background Music Trailer! I kinda love it. I used Fur Elise as the musics with a little voice over and some sound effects. I think it creates the perfect blend of suspense and intrigue that it works really well.

Once again, thanks to J for the awesome images.

Useful Sites and Softwares

WavePad Editing Software.

This will let you chop and change videos for what you need. You download the software from the site. It’s free, has cool little bits and piece that are useful and it has Q&A sections. Brilliant.

Inside A Dog.

It’s where I started, it has a lot of links to “how to” guides and it was a really great jumping off point. It has videos and mini “how to’s and if you’re curious, go here” segments. Worth a look. It’s part of The State Library of Victoria.

HarperTeen YouTube.

I was distracted here so many times. It has a lot of Book Trailers, reviews and interviews. Everything you’d want if you’re a young adult reader or writer, or if you love HarperCollins.

Google.

I know, but it is a godsend! Typing in “how to” saved me so many times. It’s really simple and you’ll find a lot of results, so you’re sure to find exactly what you want or need.

Microsoft Movie Maker/iMovie.

I used Microsoft, cause I’m a PC girl, but iMovie is simple and easy to use as well. This is how the trailer came into being, so they’re essential pieces in my mind, so download it from the link on the right and have fun.

WavePad Sound Editor.

LOVE IT! I had so much fun making the audio for the trailers, that I’m gonna be finding other ways to use this software. It’s simple, easy and free. And you can download three things from their sound library before they want you to register the software. Sound engineers are expensive, but not WavePad.

All the ones I found useful are to the right, but these are my favourites.

The Voice Over Trailer

Hiya!

Here's the Voice Over Track!

I ended up using the blurb for the voice over. I think it works better than any of the others and I love how it just flows with the visuals that I've used.

Thank you to J who was instrumental in how this looks.

J!

So, I have to show you this before I put it in the trailers.I think it is amazing and I owe J so much for all she has done for me!

Truthfully, I'm just making this as large as possible.

She had a lock of freedom with how she wanted to portray, as I really didn't have that much descriptive detail about the characters in the novel. I think I've said that before.

So THANK YOU, J, it looks FANTASTIC!

The Basics

Each one of the posts is interesting, but here, step-by-step, is how to do this for yourself.

1.The Idea.
Figure out what book you’ll do this for and go for it! Have a blast, because it is fun!

2. Do Some Research.
See what’s out there and get some ideas of how you can tailor your book trailer for you.

3. Storyboard.
This will give you a visual idea of what you’re gonna put into it.

4. Get Some Help.
Find others who have skills that you don’t. This will just make a better trailer.

5. Have A Go At It.
The best way to learn is to just give it a go. If it doesn’t work, find out why.

6. Figure Out The Visual Stuff.
Friends and Google are great for finding great images or video. Just make sure it’s okay to use.

7. Figure Out The Audio.
Even if it’s a song or your voice and your computer’s microphone, we’ll still listen.

8. Ask For Advice.
You’re stuck on a problem or curious? Ask a friend of family member what they think.

9. It’s Okay To Change Your Mind.
It’s got to feel right to you. If you don’t like it, change it, so YOU’LL love it!

10. Have FUN!
If you’re not having fun, then try something new and interesting. Put a purple Giraffe in.

Thanks for reading and I hope this has helped. All the technical stuff will be in the next post.
