Whoops... and YAY!

So I forgot to mention one thing on my last post... And instead of editing it and making me look amazing, I'm gonna stick with human.

When you're saving your PowerPoint presentation they should be saved a a photo file. I stuck with a JPEG. which is accomplished by selecting the "save as type" and choosing JPEG.

The instructions from my last post will make a lot more sense now.

So, to apologize and make up for my stupidity, here's trailer number two: the voice over trailer first draft. Again, no audio, just the video. I'll have a crack at the voice over in the coming days. But I'm not super excited to hear my voice recorded, might try and con a friend with an epic voice to do that...

Also (disclaimer) the images aren't the final images either, they're mostly from PowerPoint's clip art or borrowed from Google.

How I fixed a glitch!

Fourth time today... I'm binging obviously!

So I uploaded a video a few hours ago. When I checked it out online I found out that the format didn't work properly! Stupid me!

So the final was a PowerPoint show. It didn't upload like I thought it would so I went online and tried to figure out why. I found Windows Live Movie Maker and downloaded it here. So I did that and tried to upload again. Still didn't work.

Do you know how much information you can find just by typing "how to" into Google. It's brilliant I found pretty much everything I needed to know. Including step-by-step instructions and a video on how to turn something into a VLA (mp4) file so that you guys can actually see what the trailer looks like!

Yay! Since it took me a stupid amount of WT?ing to figure this out, I'll give you the right info so you won't have to Google like I did.

How to make a movie for Youtube and Blogger.
(and other things I'm sure)

I started with my PowerPoint. A twenty slide presentation that I saved and went woo whoo. Nope. It needs to be saved as a PowerPoint Presentation.

Then when I had that figured out I Googled how to make it a movie and came up with Windows Live Movie Maker (I think if you have a Mac it would be iMovie, but I'm not sure. See the opening post for the how-to-do-that).

I downloaded that and uploaded the files and voila... nope. I once again save it wrong. So I went back and went to "Save Movie" instead of "Save as". Very different as I found out. It comes up with a list. Choose "Recommendations" it will come up with the files you need. This a list from YouTube of files that are compatible so try and use one of these.

So that worked... finally! And I managed to upload it.

If any of this has been totally confusing here are a few links that helped me, so I hope that they will serve you just as well!

Supported YouTube Files

This one was a god send. You pick the file that you currently have and the software that you're using and voila. A step-by-step instruction of how to fix the misstep!

How to Convert PPT to Video - Windows Movie Maker 2007

I typed this (how do i make a PowerPoint presentation into a movie 2007) into Google and found this BRILLIANT video, that if I had fully watched I would probably have figured it out long before I needed YouTube's help! It's a full on step-by-step video on how to do what I was trying to do!

Background Music First Draft

Heya!

Here's the first draft of the the book trailer number one! It's the version with faces and text. It's very rough but so that you, and me, get the general idea of where this is going I'll upload it now.

As I said in a previous post the faces are computer generated using Pimp The Face. And my friend J is, hopefully, going to be sketching better version for the final trailer!

It has no music added to the background so I'll be looking into that  bit more.  And you might have to end the slideshow yourself. I might move them over to a new software for the final product, but for now, to get the general flow of it this will do.

Hopefully I'll have another draft up tomorrow!

Book Launch

So, the book that I'm making this trailer for is going to be launched soon. A tentative date is 25 May. The details are here if you're in Australia and want to come along and say hi, or pick up a book with free autograph.

Progress

Hey all,

So, I'm making progress. A lovely friend of mine (I'll call her J) has been "commissioned" to sketch the faces. Really I saw a drawing she's done of Benedict Cumberbatch (the gorgeous new BBC Sherlock Holmes and Khan in the JJ Abrams Star Trek franchise). And asked if she would do it. I sent her the "descriptions" of the characters and well, she's gonna have a look at it.

Although the descriptions I sent her were just the poems that I had written. So she's gonna have a lot of leeway with how she wants to draw them. I just said have fun.

I'll post the first draft of the trailer with the computer generated photos soonish, because seriously, how long are you going to wait. I've made you wait a few weeks for another post... Sorry for that.
